Carrie Lee is one of the sisters of Amy Lee. She is consistently creeped out by Evanescence fans' ability to find out strange details of her life via social media, and appreciates the brevity of this article.
Her fascination with pop stars such as Britney Spears and Cristina Aguilera at the age of 8 inspired Amy to write "Everybody's Fool" from Fallen.[1]
Work with Evanescence/Amy Lee[]
She and Lori sang backing vocals on The Open Door's lead single, "Call Me When You're Sober".[2] Carrie wrote the screenplay for the "What You Want" video, the lead single from the 2011 self-titled album.
The Lee sisters collaborated again with Amy on her second solo album, Dream Too Much, released in 2016.[3]
In 2020, she and Lori sang backing vocals on The Bitter Truth's third single, "Use My Voice", released on August 14, 2020.[4]
In 2022, she wrote a story based on "Swimming Home" for the issue #3 of Evanescence's comics Echoes from the Void.[5]
"Carrie [Lee South] is such a good storyteller, and "Swimming Home" was born while she was living with me and writing in Brooklyn 10-plus years ago. It was a time full of creativity and inspiration. I was writing and experimenting and collaborating a lot, and Carrie's room was next door to the studio, so we were all just living in the music and loving that song in particular. We were dreaming of mermaids and underwater worlds."
