Evanescence (also known as the “Exodus EP”) is the first EP released by Evanescence (Amy Lee and Ben Moody) in 1998, with Bigwig Enterprises credited as distributor. It was released by Amy and Ben as a printed CD-R on December 29, 1998. Only 100 copies of the EP were made. It sold out on January 2, 1999 at a concert at Vino's, a brewpub in Little Rock, Arkansas.[2] The EP was supposedly going to be a demo album entitled Vanish, but the title was scrapped when nearly half of the tracks were omitted.[1]
A local Little Rock radio station interviewed Evanescence in November 1998, playing a few songs from the EP and talking about its release, which was under the title of Origin, but this ended up being the title of their 2000 demo album.[3]
100 of the EP copies had been sold out that night after the concert for $15 for each copy.[1] The front cover is a photoshoot of The Angel of Grief statue created by William Wetmore Story. The back cover is the tracklist for the EP and features the former Evanescence logo in black. The CD is detailed with the former Evanescence logo of the capitalized "E" in four.
