"Feeding The Dark" is the fifth track on Evanescence's fifth studio album, The Bitter Truth.

Background[]

The song was written by Amy Lee, Tim McCord, Troy McLawhorn, Will Hunt and Will B. Hunt. It was previewed on September 30, 2020 when the band shared an Instagram story of Amy recording the piano part of the song's bridge. Many fans found the melody very similar to the "another piece of the puzzle" piano piece that was previewed during the scrapped Lillywhite sessions for Evanescence.

Amy confirmed this song was originally written for the self-titled album, along with "Yeah Right" and "Take Cover".[1] They were part of the original version of the album that was scrapped by their then label.

Lyrics[]

Follow me under
Low as we are
Swallow your hunger
Feeding this dark
Feeding this dark

Do you remember
What made the scar?
And how deep will you cut?
Seeking my heart
Seeking my heart

Well, you know that you can't hide
And you know that you can't lie
'Cause I know all your secrets
And I won't let you forget

Follow me under (Follow me under)
Low as we are (Follow me)
Hate is the liar
Feeding this dark
Feeding this dark

Well, you know that you can't hide
And you know that you can't lie
'Cause I know all your secrets
And I won't let you forget

Don't look away
Let the light pour down on our darkest day
If we run from ourselves
We will run forever

Well, you know that you can't hide
And you know that you can't lie
'Cause I know all your secrets
And I won't let you forget
