Amy and a Muppet version of her husband, Josh.

Amy announced her cover via social media on September 22, 2009:[1]

"Remember the Nightmare Before Christmas covers CD last year? They are making another one, this time it's Muppet songs... When they asked me if I wanted to do a song, I thought it was a really cool idea but I didn't think there would be anything that fit me... but right before saying no, I went online and listened to all the songs just in case anything sparked, and I found something... so Will Hunt (guy I did Sally's Song with) and I went completely crazy with it and it is really different and, I think, REALLY cool... I thought it was going to come out this year but I've just been told it's been pushed to spring, April I think... so we'll have to wait a little bit for it, but I think it's worth it. ;) I'm really excited about it!"

Amy's version contains electro-pop elements, a big influence on the conception of Evanescence's third album. She said the cover song served as "an appetizer" for the band's album that was originally intended for a Fall 2010 release.[2][3] However, it was delayed because Wind-up Records rejected the material originally recorded in the initial sessions, making the band start over with a new producer and direction.

LyricsEdit

Halfway down the stairs is a stair where I sit
There isn't any other stair quite like it
I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top
So this is the stair where I always stop

Halfway up the stairs isn't up and isn't down
It isn't in the nursery, it isn't in the town
And all sorts of funny thoughts run round my head
It isn't really anywhere, it's somewhere else instead

Halfway down the stairs is a stair where I sit
There isn't any other stair quite like it
I'm not at the bottom, I'm not at the top
So this is the stair where I always stop
