He was announced as Evanescence's bass player in August 2006. Tim McCord replaced Evanescence's former bassist Will Boyd after he left in June 2006.[1]

His older brother, Matthew McCord, is active in the Sacramento indie music scene.

In 2008, he co-wrote "Your Love" with Amy Lee for a soundtrack, but it wasn't used.[2] The song was performed live at Legends & Lyrics in 2009, but both the show and song remain unreleased to date. However, the song leaked in LQ in 2014. They've written a handful of folk songs, but none has been released.[3]

He recorded synths and guitar on the fourth album, Synthesis, and co-wrote the lead single, "Imperfection".

On 2021's The Bitter Truth, he co-wrote "Broken Pieces Shine", "The Game is Over", "Feeding the Dark", "Wasted on You", "Better Without You", "Use My Voice", "Take Cover", "Part of Me", and "Blind Belief."
