This song was an outtake from the 1998 Evanescence EP. It was performed live once at a concert in Vino's Bar, Little Rock on May 7th, 1999.[1] In April 2009, various copies of the concert were sold on eBay. A few of the lyrics have been paraphrased from a Bible verse (Matthew 10:28, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell."). Stephanie Pierce performs the background vocals. The song samples the programming of the EP version of "Where Will You Go?".

This is what Amy said the song when she asked about it on EvClub:

I can’t bring myself to watch it, the way we sounded back then makes me cringe! I know what song you’re talking about though, I don’t even think it ever had a real name. It was a half baked song that just didn’t go anywhere because it wasn’t very good. Back then we would just kind of play whatever we had live, even if it was still sort of being worked on. It wasn’t like we were famous and stuff would end up all over the internet… whops.

-Amy

...ah, memories of playing shows for free pizza...

Ben Moody was asked about the song, but he said he didn't remember the title.

Lyrics[]

I know a secret
Something still belongs to me
I'm not afraid of those who kill the bod
For still they cannot kill the soul

You may beat me down, just denying the truth
But you can't kill the me in you

Dreams are illusions
They fade away before we can catch them
Promises may be broken, dreams we'll forget
But what's birthed in you cannot die

You may beat me down, just denying the truth
But you can't kill the me in you

(You may beat me down, just denying the truth)
(But you can't kill the me in you)

You may beat me down, just denying the truth
But you can't kill the me in you

(You may beat me down, just denying the truth)
(But you can't kill the me in you)

You may beat me down, just denying the truth
But you can't kill the me in you

(You may beat me down, just denying the truth)
(But you can't kill the me in you)

You may beat me down, just denying the truth
But you can't kill the me in you

(You may beat me down, just denying the truth)
(But you can't kill the me in you)
